Law firm owner for nineteen years and have practiced as an attorney for twenty-four years.

Oversaw the firm’s administrative functions, including recruiting, hiring, evaluating and managing all legal and support staff.

Continually maintained human resource processes to ensure that issues such as sexual harassment, unemployment claims, health insurance, unfair competition, and termination procedures were thoroughly addressed and resolved.

Litigated such issues before state agencies, District Courts throughout the metropolitan area and beyond, as well as the Minnesota Court of Appeals, Minnesota Supreme Court and the Federal District Court and Court of Appeals. Many of my cases involved highly charged domestic abuse, including numerous high conflict divorce cases. That experience lends itself well to dealing with employees in emotional contexts, especially termination of employment.

Advised and represented clients who were either pursuing or defending employment law claims, including wrongful termination, non-compete agreements, sexual harassment, age and disability discrimination, defamation, whistleblower, overtime wages, professional misconduct, unemployment compensation, and other employment matters.

Certified as a Senior Professional in Human Resources through the Human Resources Certification Institute, the only organization which is fully accredited for providing human resource certification. An S.P.H.R. certification indicates mastery in all areas of human resources, including recruiting, employee handbooks, evaluations, training, motivation, and termination.

Mediator with twenty-five years of experience and have been trained through Supreme Court certified programs in facilitative, evaluative and transformative mediation. I promote alternative dispute resolution methods for employment and other disputes, as a means to achieve win-win solutions.

Published more than 20 articles in the Hennepin Lawyer Journal on numerous areas of law and have been named as a Super Lawyer by Thomson Reuters.
